BASICS OF FENG SHUI is a beginner’s guide for each and everyone who is open toward enhancing their life, work, love life and success using the perennial science of Feng Shui. The author first explicates that Feng Shui is not just an Oriental art of arranging furniture or a way of landscaping, as it is commonly perceived in the West. He therefore cites research and resources that show that Feng Shui really is a perennial science that can be used effectively for self-improvement and attracting ‘good luck’. The article first explains the basic notions of Feng Shui such as Yin and Yang or the Five Elements, as well as the notion of ‘bioenergy’; for what Feng Shui actually does in the analysis of the author is to impact on the flow of the human energy field, called ch’i in the Chinese tradition, ki or hado in Japan, prana in India or Wakonda among the North American Indians. Feng Shui thus is a set of techniques to positively impact upon the flow and the balance of this energy field that is both inside the human cell and outside in the cosmos. It is this field that also connects our emotions with the weather, as the late Dr. Wilhelm Reich found and documented. The article then is followed by a review of seven leading Feng Shui books written by both from Asian and Western authors. The authors of the books are Dr. Ong Hean-Tatt, Evelyn Lip, Karen Kingston, Lillian Too, Man-Ho Kwok, Nancilee Wydra and Richard Craze. The article is completed by an extensive contextual bibliography.
