The book does require some basic crochet knowledge in order to enjoy it; i.e., slip knot, chain and single crochet. But, it does not require prior Tunisian crochet knowledge as long as you're willing to learn the stitches (tutorials provided in the book) before jumping into the stitch patterns.

This book is a stitch pattern dictionary to expand your skill level and provide you with the opportunity to create your own projects. Although it includes one pattern/project to practice reading the charts, it is not a pattern book. It is a stitch pattern dictionary, like other stitch pattern dictionaries. Kim Guzman is an award-winning designer of knit and crochet projects, including Tunisian crochet.
