Deconstructing the Rock is a major part of Peterson's lifelong search for what is true. Although each of the poems can stand on their own, together they make up the first part of Peterson's quest for the truth behind the mythology, dogma, and superstition that is Christianity. It begins with a Parable of the Matthean version of Jesus' life, stripped of superstitious hocus-pocus. The Sequel that follows is Peterson's attempt to understand the concept of the Trinity. Don't be deceived though: this is not a "Christian" book. Nor is it totally anti-Christian—that appellation belongs to the next (and last) book of Peterson's poetry: Perestroika Poems, which is scheduled for publication in 2012.
