Jake, whose single mom is out working most of the time, keeps mostly to himself at high school, spending time with his more assertive friend Buddy. After being persuaded to attend a protest against LGBTQ+ students with Buddy, Jake gets into a fight with a member of the gender-sexuality alliance club, getting himself in trouble at school and home.
