This was a book that was not part of the plan, when my invalid mum was supposed to be only in Northlands Nursing Home as a temporary resident. As all the council houses and fl ats in Blairgowrie were having a full refurbishment in 2008, this restricted my mum from returning to her home because of all the upset, dust and mess this would cause. Mum had a carer from Crossroads called Daphne, who is now a real friend to me. She came for a few hours on a Friday, to allow me to have respite. One day she mentioned to me, that with all the various paperwork I had been collating to do with looking after mum, I should use my brain and perhaps write a book. Daphne knew a man called Alan, who had experience in computers, and in February 2009, I bought my fi rst second hand computer, and contacted him for lessons. Since then, I have created a friendship with Alan and have both learned about computing to a satisfactory standard and written this book within 18 months. As to the future, lets see what happens next.
