For children who love acting, film making, and the performing arts, KIDS GUIDE TO MOVIE MAKING is a middle grade, nonfiction activity book that provides them with the how-to's they need to make compelling movies with strong characters and stories audiences will enjoy. Over the years in neighborhoods across America, children have formed their own private "theater companies," performing plays on makeshift stages with bed sheet curtains draped over clotheslines. Nowadays, children still create their own plays, but with easy to use video cameras, computer video editing software and You Tube, children by the thousands are making and showing their own movies too! KIDS GUIDE TO MOVIE MAKING is a book for today's creative, technically savvy child who just needs the tools to set them on their journey of making their own feature film. In 2001 Shelley Frost founded Make-A-Movie Studios LLC to help children bring their dreams to the big screen. She has written over 30 movie scripts, and directed 100 movies starring over a thousand children. Shelley has appeared on Oprah, Dateline NBC and in People Magazine. Children around the world including Ireland, Germany, Argentina and Thailand have used Shelley's Make-A-Movie movie scripts and instruction manuals to make their own movies. With KIDS GUIDE TO MOVIE MAKING, children will have the opportunity to learn how to be a Movie Director on their own movie set with easy to understand guidelines and descriptions. Throughout the book are HOT TIPS! that will give the reader special insights geared to making their movie production problem free. The final pages are filled with helpful movie making materials such as sample scripts, shooting schedules, storyboard layout and more.

In 2001 Shelley Frost developed the Make-A-Movie program. Since then she has taught Make-A-Movie Workshops to several hundred children at private and public schools, recreation departments and in private homes. She has also booked dozens of Make-A-Movie birthday parties and events involving over 1000 children. Today, many families and teachers have video cameras in their homes and classrooms. Shelley has seen first-hand how excited kids get when they decide to make a movie. Whether in a Make-A-Movie Workshop or birthday party, Shelley never tires of seeing her casts of kids show their enthusiasm, talent and imaginations at work. Her original, exciting movie scripts for kids and her extensive knowledge and experience in making movies with kids are what makes their movie making experiences possible. In 1994 Shelley produced her first video, "BABYMUGS!" which has sold over 750,000 copies. This success led her to appear on Oprah, Dateline and in People Magazine. Most of her video work is with children and animals. Titles include: "Kidstuff with Dick Clark," "Real Girls, Real Sports," "Old Friends," and "Little Patriots." She is the co-author of two books: THROW LIKE A GIRL, 2000 Beyond Words Press; YOUR ADOPTED DOG: Everything You Need to Know About Rescuing & Caring for a Best Friend in Need, 2007 The Lyons Press. Shelley teaches drama and acting for the San Carlos Children's Theater in the San Francisco Bay Area.
