About the Author

Timothy Ryan's fiction has appeared in literary magazines such as American University's Folio, Seattle's Fine Madness, and the Clinton Street Quarterly in Portland, Oregon. His non-fiction has appeared in such publications as Harper's, The Clinton Street Quarterly, The Far Eastern Economic Review, the Seattle Times, Northern Lights, The Christian Science Monitor, the South Asian Bulletin and in national newspapers in South Asia and Latin America. Currently the Asia/Europe Director for the AFL-CIO's Solidarity Center in Washington, D.C., between 1993-2001 he lived in Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
