About the Author

Jonathan B. Kotch, board certified specialist in both pediatrics and preventive medicine, is Professor and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies, Department of Maternal and Child Health, Gillings School of Global Public Health, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he is a member of the Affiliated Faculty of the Injury Prevention Research Center and a Senior Fellow of the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. He directs the National Training Institute for Child Care Health Consultants, the Quality Enhancement Project for Infants and Toddlers, and the North Carolina Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center and Family Health Resource Line. Other research interests include his longitudinal study of the causes and consequences of child abuse and neglect, now in its 19th year. He is married and has three grown sons.
