This particular book is a bit different than the others. But yet, aren't each of them a bit odd? How many write about their lives in such vivid emotion? I had just arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as this volume begins (this is where my Father lived) after leaving the Police force in Oklahoma. I was seriously injured in a high-speed chase of a drug dealer and would no longer be able to serve active duty as a Police officer, but I could be employed as a security officer for a company that utilized persons with "special abilities" such as martial arts and a law enforcement background.

I don't think the average person stops to realize who might qualify as a modern-day Poet. I would have never selected myself as one who would fill the bill. But, as you will see, my personal accounts of life in the big city after leaving a small rural community provide an interesting insight into life and love and all the other things that might make our crazy, mixed-up, wonderful world spin. I will always miss the time I could have shared with my children, but I have learned that even though I had to traverse the streets of Hell, there truly is a glimpse of Heaven on earth if we bother to look for it. I can't recover from my lost years, and to dwell on that time only makes the suffering that much worse. I had to learn to put the past behind me and turn to the next page in the book of my life. I realized that I still had something to offer others, and with the help available from God, I could be forgiven for the sins I had committed even though I was convinced that I could never be forgiven. Life does go on. Whether we choose to live that life or continue dying is actually up to us and the attitude we take. Please decide to enjoy the life you have, and you will also help others more easily achieve their level of happiness by not becoming a stumbling block in other's journeys.
