In preparing for publication in book form the mass Of relevant matter contained in the J ourna], much of it necessarily had to be re-arranged and re-written. The bulk of the matter and illustrations contained in this book were contributed by my old time colleague at Regent Street Polytechnic, Mr. J. Wright Clarke, the authority on Practical Plumbers' Work, and 'he has kindly revised the whole of the proofs of this present manual.
