A free-spirited rebel from the start, Unity will do and say just about anything to get herself in trouble. She's different, an outsider. In Adolf Hitler, she finds her idol of nonconformity. But soon her mind is also brainwashed by his racist ideology. She becomes obsessed with seeking to win his love, and she wants to make her native England and his Germany become as one to prevent another world war. If she can achieve these goals, she will be the happiest woman in the world. If not, she plans to end her life. This is the shocking true story of Unity Mitford, an English girl who was a niece of Winston Churchill and yet she turned into Hitler's most beloved groupie and most unlikely intimate friend. In this well-researched and penetrating account, we learn about a truly strange and fascinating young girl and her extraordinary real relationship with perhaps the most evil and mysterious man in world history.

Hello Readers,
I see there has been a lot of debate about the content of the book, so I'd like to clear up the controversy. I didn't cite or explain my sources more specifically, except in my introduction and afterword, because I wrote the book like Schindler's List, a biographical docu-novel. It's at least 90-95% fact; I was quite faithful to the story as nonfiction, but because of the flowing novelistic narrative style it's written in, I altered just a few very, very minor details here and there to tie the storyline together more neatly--minor inconsequential things like changing a minor person's name or the chronology of an event, for instance. I almost never actually "made something up" out of thin air; I didn't need to, the material was so rich already. Besides, I don't think I'm clever enough to have simply made up the scenes, dialogues, and details in the book. But this has been blown all out of proportion and grossly exaggerated, probably because there is some new research here which has not appeared in other books yet. Also, all of the writing is completely grammatically correct on every page from beginning to end. The in-house editorial team did a top job, as did the cover designer. Those who have the book can see this plainly. Anyway, I hope this clears up the confusion.
Very best regards,
David Rehak
