Synopsis

This volume contains a practical handbook on the construction of cabinet furniture, with detailed information on the use of tools and numerous recipes for making polishes, varnishes, glaze-lacquers, and revivers. This handbook will appeal to those occupied in the restoration and selling of antique furniture, and would make for a fantastic addition to collections of related literature. Contents include: "The Improving and Preparation of Furniture Woods", "Stains and Imitations", "French Polishing", "Cheap Work", "Re-Polishing Old Work", "Spirit Varnishing", "General Instructions", "Enamelling", "American Polishing Processes", and "Materials Used". Many vintage books like this are becoming increasingly rare and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, high-quality addition complete with a specially commissioned new introduction on woodworking.
