Originally intended as a Master's Thesis in English Literature, The Stagnant Civilization was violently rejected by the author's advisory committee. In a normal analysis of William Faulkner's great novel Absalom, Absalom!, this inquiry necessarily confronts the effect of Racism in American society, and then proceeds toward startling conclusions which transcend Literary Criticism by positing implications for Society as a whole, and pointing toward a new and multicultural social paradigm.

The book was originally intended as a Master's Thesis in English between 1986-89, and was researched in light of then-current developments in scholarship within its specific discipline. What began as routine research in Literary Criticism, through systematic application, led to startling conclusions which bore implications for Society as a whole. After writing the book, I became sort of philosopher who takes his own advice, by discovering opportunity by embracing the multicultural society which has unfolded.I live in Roanoke, Virginia, where I support myself by working in restaurant maintenance, while studying Business Administration at Virginia Western Community College. I have continued in writing about current affairs in various internet venues, and I have been producing original music and poetry performances on my channel, www.youtube.com/edlyons.
