About the Author

¿Aunt¿ Mary Booth, Bright was born on the ¿Middle Peninsula¿ of southern Virginia which lies between the York and Rappahannock Rivers. She grew up in this farm country and was married here.She and her husband went to New York City for their honeymoon in 1944. They stayed there and didn¿t return to their roots for 43 years. Mary¿s writings have been written through the years with a child-like candor as she grew and struggled with the upheavals of leaving the sedentary culture of the southern life and thrusting herself into the hustle and bustle of New York City with its tall buildings, subways, elevated trains, Harlem and the Cotton Club; and writing about the things she saw and wondered about during her life. ¿Many of the writings are set in my mood at that time in my life¿ These are her reflections of her life and of life in general. Her special wisdom and mother-wit is truly a blessing to all who share her thoughts and insights of life as they unfold in reflections of seasons past, concerns for seasons present and hopes for seasons yet to come.
