A practical guide to business management in the real world
All over the world, people are being promoted to managerial positions on the basis of technical skills, without ensuring that they possess adequate managerial skills! Managers by occupation (rather than, by profession) are hazardous to corporate welfare, because they do not realise the significance of motivation, through mutual respect and caring of fellow employees, training and development, teamwork, recognition, communication and feedback and good inter-personal skills, in a world of increasing complexities and time constraints. These "managers" cost their employers far more than the salaries they are paid! Would any sane individual allow himself/herself to be taken for a ride in a Mercedes-Benz by a person who does not possess adequate driving skills, let alone a valid driver's licence? Why, then, do business owners allow their organisations to be taken for a ride by unqualified "management" personnel? I do realise that most of these "managers" do not wish to spend several years acquiring basic management skills. With this in mind, I have written 'The Management Syndrome...' . Moreover, the section on business law will (hopefully) reduce sole reliance on lawyers, while helping to avoid common legal pitfalls. Finally, the role of woman in the corporate world should never be undermined. The time has come, for man to set aside his ego and welcome woman, as a worthy partner, in the business world. Hence the inclusion of the chapters on woman and sexual harassment.
