YMS - 472 were already having thoughts of home, family and togetherness. The weight of the war had finally been lifted, they would soon be going home. Not a single one of them suspected they would soon be introduced to a new type of enemy. SIX DAYS ON A RAFT is the incredible account of Navy Veteran Bill Harrison, who survived six days and nights on a raft in the South Pacific after his ship sank. As his buddies slipped one by one into the ocean, Bill fought through impossible odds to survive and hold onto his sanity while battling the raging demons of fear, hunger, depression and hopelessness. This is his story of true faith and survival." From the author: "An epic storm with 140 mph winds and 45 foot waves ripped apart our ship and I was hurled over 40 miles away on the life raft I used to escape our sinking ship. When the storm subsided only nine of us survived and landed in shark infested waters with no food or water. The next six days I watched my friends lose hope and one by one they slipped into the ocean, I fought impossible odds to survive and hold on to my sanity while battling the raging demons of fear, hunger, depression and hopelessness. This is my true story and I want to share it with you.". INSCRIBED / SIGNED by Bill Harrison. First Edition (so stated). Hardcover. Fine condition/Fine dust jacket.
