Synopsis

This tale is about a Faery Princess whose name was Isabella! She was born in a castle along the coast of Scotland on the 12th day, the 12th month the season being winter. Isabella was the only child born to the King and the Queen of the Healing Faeries. It was said the faeries had many talents - some say they could become the size of peoplefolk; others believed they could become as small as a thistle and disappear in a 'blink of an eye'! The Healing Faeries were known throughout the land for their knowledge of herbs and healing. They were happy souls who shared the land with peoplefolk but things were not to stay that way. Due to an uprising over the land between the peoplefolk and the faeryfolk the King has to hide his only child with longtime friend Nanny Belle and her son William. There, Isabella has to do some healing on her own! Overnight she loses her powers, her family and the life she's ever known! She realizes it's up to her to find her family and one-day restore the kingdom of the Healing Faeries. Following her dreams and quest for freedom Isabella finds herself on the shores of Prince Edward Island. To this day they say Isabella arrived on the shores of Howard's Cove. Nestled along the cove is a cliff that looks like a small replica of the coast of Scotland, the place - that has Isabella's clan name! Through poetry, stories and folklore; a dream in which her father appears to her and a mothers' trail of love, Isabella discovers the 'Greatest Secret' ever known by the Healing Faeries! About the Author

Nancy Lee Amos lived on the healing shores of Prince Edward Island for eighteen years! In May 2003 she moved to Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) to be close to her only son. Nancy has worked with children for most of her life - in the past, in a Treatment Foster Care Program and in her resent past as a Nanny for several small children. Over the last twelve years Nancy's interest in the 'healing aspect of life' has been her greatest passion. (Hence she has written two children's books; the second, Isabella/Reunites the Healing Faeries available for Fall 2006!} Nancy has also won an Honorable Mention for her original story of her character, Isabella in the Island Literary Awards for the Lucy Maud Montgomery Children's award. She has also had her story on display at the Confederation Center of the Arts in Charlottetown; P.E.I. at The Healing Art Show conducted by curator, Trisha Clarkin. NOTE: As a Nanny I used to wear aprons and in the mornings I would hide small treasures in my pockets and throughout the day pull them out and make up stories for the children! They would be delighted. Then one day a friend gave me a FAERY PIN to put on my apron. We called the faery Isabella. Isabella and my stories about her fascinated the children. As Isabella's character grew, both young and old started giving me gifts for her! The small treasures mentioned in the book are actual 'things' people have given me for Isabella; the sewing box, the old mirror, the doll on the wooden horse etc... One spring, on P.E.I., I made a FAERY GARDEN with a faery ring on the property where I lived. To this day it has enchanted children of all ages and all who enter its magical space. Since then the children have made the garden a sacred place and on their own have left small gifts for the faeries there. Starting a tradition the children have celebrated Midsummer's Night Eve by dancing around the faery ring and adding their own magical touches.
