Vanity is a collection of thoughts written candidly in the context of the emotions that brought forth the words. It is more than just a group of written pieces: it's encouragement for everyone to pick up a pen, pick up a mic, write, speak, and be heard.

Jenise M. Dew, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, has always had a love for the arts, especially for writing. She views writing as a form of therapy to free our hearts and minds of the emotions that daily life forces us to bury deep within. Having graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, she plans to further her education in English, Business, and Teaching with the hopes of opening an artist's studio for young writers/performers. It was at Poly that Jenise first became a part of Spoken Word and adopted her writer's name CCEP, an acronym of one of her husband's nicknames for her. Jenise has received many recognitions and awards for her original pieces, theatrical performance, and oratory. Vanity is her first published collection and hopefully will not be her last.
