TenThousand Presents leads us, by way ofprose and poetry, through the adventures of Betsy and Robert Firger as they rose to meet the challenges of a lifetime.The prose traces the course of their marriage, careers, family, travels andultimately Betsy's illness and death from cancer. The poetry of how they livedthrough the social demands and personal struggles of their generation evidencestheir singular world, which they created with spirit, joy and love.Their story addresses a range of triumphs over crisesincluding mental illness, evolving careers and health and recovery whenconfronted with cancer. It inspires and teaches by the example of their resolveto challenge conventional wisdom and respond uniquely tomany of the difficulties we all will face with maturity and aging. TenThousand Presents demonstrates how creativity and responsibility can yieldthe fortitude and courage to deal with life's most extraordinary trials. Byturning despair to hope and revisioning problems asopportunities, Robert and Betsy applied these lessons of success to findsolutions as gifts of love.

About the Author
RobertA. Firger left the practice of law to care for hiswife Betsy and their family, after she was diagnosed with cancer. Theycelebrated their days together exploring the most loving ways to help Betsythrough her illness. He continues his celebration of life through creating art,primarily sculpture, writing including poetry, and advising new enterprises inthe fields of scientific and medical research and technology. Robert and hisfamily have created a number of tributes to Betsy, commemorating their love ofthe arts, environmental preservation and supporting others confrontingchallenges to their health.
