The author of this book comesfrom a poverty stricken family. A family who did not havesuch simple luxuries as a car, and at times a telephone. She grew upbeing told that being "black" and being female, weretwo strikes against her. She turned to a life of drugs and promiscuity,that ultimately resulted in the taking of innocent life. She abused herbody, and that invited others to abuse her. From an abusive husband, to aviolent rape, she experienced it all. She is no longer a victim, but asurvivor.
