Synopsis
This Second Edition of Social Problems: Community, Policy and Social Action offers an integrated approach to topics of race, class, and gender, with an emphasis on critical thinking and active learning throughout the book.
Social problems are approached from four theoretical perspectives (conflict, social interactionist, functionalist and feminist perspectives), any yet also humanized, with voices of experience (those suffering the social problem, i.e. the poverty stricken) and voices of change (social workers, policy makers and so on).

About the Author
Anna Leon-Guerrero is Professor of Sociology at Pacific Lutheran University in Washington. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She teaches courses in statistics, social theory and social problems. Her areas of research and publications include family business, social welfare policy, and social service program evaluation. She is also the co-author of Social Statistics for a Diverse Society, and co-editor of Contemporary Readings in Social Problems.
