Synopsis
Jessopp (1823-1914) was an English cleric and writer. He contributed regular articles to The Nineteenth Century, variously on humourous, polemical and historical topics, and published scholarly works on local Norfolk history and on aspects of English literature. This collection of seven essays was published in book form in 1890, six of them having previously appeared in The Nineteenth Century.
