About the Authors

Nicola Davies has always been besotted with animals and always secretly wanted to be a writer so it should come as no surprise that she has combined both her passions to become a best selling writer for children. Nicola studied Zoology at Cambridge University and then worked as a researcher at the BBC Natural History Unit and as a presenter on The Really Wild Show. Nicola also writes for newspapers and magazines and also teaches writing at university. Some of Nicola’s best known books include: "Poo: A Natural History of the Unmentionable" and "Extreme Animals: A Guide to the Toughest Creatures on Earth"

Sarah was born in London in 1956, and studied at Hornsey and Croydon Colleges of Art, before taking a four-year course in Graphic Design and Illustration. Focusing on illustrating animals in their natural environments (bats, beavers, bears, cats, wolves and even a caribou), Sarah also has a particular interest in natural history, and has contributed illustrations to a number of field guides and gardening books.
