Pathophysiology for the Boards and Wards features the most tested content on the USMLE Step 1. It is outline format of high–yield content organized in a systems based approach. Since many medical schools have curriculums organized by systems, this is an effective review for coursework as well as for USMLE step 1. For those medical schools that start rotations in second year this is an even more valuable reference book. Many third years continue to use this book for pathophysiology reference during the clinical rotations.
The current edition features 75 q/a′s; a 4 color insert; valuable content in appendices; multiple tables and algorithms. Its handy size fits in the white coat pocket for "on the spot" reference.
Now in the fifth edition, students are coming to realize the superior content quality and broad coverage of information found in this pocket–size book. This book earned the highest rating in First Aid for USMLE Step 1 2005 with a score of A–. It also has two 5 Star reviews on Amazon.com, a popular student resource for reviews and purchase.
New Edition
The new edition will be 4 color to both increase market appeal and help curb the used book market. We also plan to increase the number of illustrations, as this is what the competition is lacking. Students highly value the illustrations. The reviewers had very little content changes and we are working with the authors on improvements for the new edition.
Sales
This book continues to grow as a favorite resource for medical and osteo students in the first two years of medical school and as a quick refresher thereafter. The third edition published 2000–2003 with LOE of 6928. The fourth (current) edition published March 2003 and in 2 years has seen increased sales each year, with a current LOE of 8559. During the first four months of 2005 we have sales of 1366
