This book in high–yield outline format covers each discipline of medicine appearing on the USMLE Steps 2 and 3. It is a vital reference for all third and fourth years while on wards. This book is the only content review book that is pocket sized and covers every specialty covered on boards including dermatology, radiology, and ophthalmology. Appendices on toxicology, vitamins and nutrition and zebras and syndromes offer bonus content review. A Q&A section features 70 clinically based board format review with answer explanations for correct and incorrect options.

The new edition will include additional illustrations and minor point by point topics that the reviewers suggested and that we are being discussed with the authors. A main goal is to add what is needed and keep the size from growing, since a major strongpoint of this book is that it fits in a white coat pocket. The reviewers also suggested a number of format changes which we will work into the new interior design.

A major new feature will be the addition of 4 color to the book. Many of the illustrations need 4 color and this addition will encourage new book sales rather than used book sales.

Sales

This book continues to grow in popularity with upper level medical students, residents, PAs, and NPs. The first edition of this book sold 25,587 units from 2000 to 2003. Currently in just over 2 years we have sold over 33,000 units US and over 600 ROW. We anticipate US sales to surpass 40,000. We have already, in 4 months, sold more this year than all of 2004 or 2003.

What is your favorite part of this book?

R1: The Internal Medicine section. I feel that it really helped me consolidate what I learned in third year, and also helped prepare me for Step 2.

R2: The pictures, illustrations, diagrams and tables. I’m a very visual learner.

R3: The fact that it is smaller than most of the other review books. The compact size made it much easier to carry around. Also, it was more discreet reading it during lectures, conferences, etc.

R4: Solid consolidation of lots of information with pertinents well laid out

R5: My favorite part of the book is the pictures and tables.

R6: Small and relatively complete, with different sections (radiology, Q & A, and zebras) that are not normally found in review books.

R7: The dermatology section is my favorite section.
