About the Author:
JOAN C. BEAL is Professor of English Language and Director of the National Centre for English Cultural Tradition, University of Sheffield, UK. Her recent publications include English in Modern Times and Language and Region.
KAREN P. CORRIGAN is a Reader in Linguistics and English Language at Newcastle University, UK, and has previously held a Leverhulme Trust Fellowship as well as lectureships at University College, Dublin and the universities of Edinburgh and York (UK). She was Principal Investigator on the NECTE project and has recently published Syntax and Variation (with L. Cornips).
HERMANN L. MOISL teaches and researches at the Newcastle University, UK where he is Senior Lecturer in Linguistics and English Language. He has held British and Canada Council Fellowships and has recently published The Handbook of Natural Language Processing (with R.Dale and H.Somers).
