From the Inside Flap

"Bad Trips" is about being young during the late 1960s, a decade that has been written and talked about so much that people both old and young are probably sick of hearing about it. But this book does not indulge in nostalgic reminiscences or engage in any social-political commentary. It s simply a very matter-of-fact account of one person s experiences between 1965 and 1971, written during the time or shortly afterward. If there s any kind of story that the general reader can relate to, it s about getting lost and eventually finding yourself again-- or at least getting back on the right road, the one you re meant to follow. There is something to be said for getting lost, though, because when you throw away the map and most other reference points, you become much more aware of your present surroundings. The several years that I lived this way were a time when I felt more alive than I ever did again.
