Synopsis

Lucas is now an orthopedic surgeon in San Jose California with a fine practice, and has his best friend stationed in the vicinity, Marine Lieutenant Colonel Paul Dugan. Together they attempt to determine who the person was that apparently attempted to run Harry down while on a training run, and who was making mysterious dead line, late night phone calls to the Lucas residence. In Honolulu, marathon officials are receiving anonymous death threats to an unknown participant, and Police Lieutenant Danny Kemakoma is in charge of trying to sort it all out.

About the Author

John Ralson McDermott is a veteran of two wars in a thirty year Marine Corps career. In Korea, he was an infantryman, and in Vietnam, a marine combat correspondent. This proverbial jack-of-all-trades is a commercial pilot with multi-instrument, helicopter and even a seaplane rating. For two years in the late seventies he was publicity director for the Honolulu Marathon, and has run six marathons, a thirty-three-miler and also, a fifty-mile race. He lived in Hawaii twelve years, two of which were spent flying traffic watch over the freeways with several radio stations. He has at times been a federal police officer, a private investigator, and both a sky, and scuba diver.

Synopsis

Leonard Glover wants Harry Lucas dead. Lucas performed life-saving surgery in Vietnam on the psychotic former sniper, but Glover sees things differently. From California to Hawaii he stalks Lucas, intending to kill him at the Honolulu Marathon finish line.
