The war, which commenced at that time in France, obliging Vefalius to leave Paris, he returned to his own country, Louvain. The knowledge he had acquired in anatomy induced him to pro fcfs it publicly in that city; but, in order to extend his anatomi cal refearches, in x 535, he followed the army of the Emperor Charles the Fifth, againlt France. His reputation increafed. He was chofen Profell'or of Anatomy in the univerfity of Padua, by the republic of Venice, and there gave lectures on medicine, particularly anatomy, for feven years.
