Two systems of handling bulk potatoes from the field were evaluated. System 1 used a truck-and - trailer combina transporting, and unloading, while system 2 used only a tr trailer combination carried a payload of about 24 tons, wh carried half this capacity.
System 1 had lower costs than system 2 in each compon example, costs were lower by per ton or percent to the field, by per ton or percent less for har by per ton or 39 percent less for transporting potat and by per ton or 21 percent less for unloading.
