Thus, the present report is organized as follows. The next section summarizes the main results. The remaining portions of section 1 describe the organization and functions of N srds to the ex tent needed for our discussion of the information system. A more complete description has been given elsewhere,1 and readers familiar with it may bypass these sections. Next, section 2 develops the ultimate computer-based system as far as our res ent ideas go. This is followed in section 3 y a description of the system envisaged for the next few years, and finally by a few comments on the transition between the two.
