Excerpt from Transcript of Proceedings: Symposium on Temperature Compensated Volumes in the Sale of Petroleum Projects, April 3-4, 1979
I feel it is a distinct honor to be involved this year with the National Conference on Weights and Measures as Chairman. Both of the coming conference in July and of this symposium.
I am sure there are many individuals here who will be contributing significantly to the sessions of the symposium the discussions. The questions that are going to be raised. And some of the answers given. I look forward myself to learning a lot here on the issues involved in temperature compensation. From my own point of view. I would Just like to say that this subject is one that I feel has been lying there dormant for some time. I think many of us have recognized that there are some unanswered questions that need to be addressed and I might Just share with you what I believe are some of these issues. I certainly hope to come away after the next few days with some more insight into some of these.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is focused on the physical properties of liquid petroleum and introduces new insights on how to accurately determine the volume of crude oils and finished products, specifically at the standard temperature of 60°F. The provided information is the result of collaborative efforts between researchers and industry experts from the American Petroleum Institute, the Institute of Petroleum, and ASTM International. The author emphasizes the need for precise volume correction to ensure fair and accurate transactions, and discusses various methods and technologies used to obtain precise density and coefficient of expansion data, including the work of Bearce and Peffer, as well as Downer and Inkley. Additionally, the author provides practical insights on how to obtain accurate temperature measurements using liquid-in-glass thermometers. This book is a valuable resource for individuals involved in the measurement and sale of petroleum products, offering comprehensive information on the physical properties and measurement techniques of liquid petroleum.
