Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a thorough exploration of the vast, largely undiscovered region of forests and lakes northwest of Montreal, Quebec. In the late 19th century, the author and journalist Charles Guà rin traversed the area, observing its natural beauty, resources, and the lives of colonists settling in the area. At the time, the region was seen as a source of timber and minerals, but Guà rin also envisioned its potential for agriculture and tourism. Guà rin's observations provide historical context for the development of the region and valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities present for colonists of the era. His work also highlights the importance of preserving the region's natural beauty and resources for future generations.
