Je contemple beaucoup ici l'ambassade française qui n'a rien de merveilleux. Le spectacle qui m'a frappé, de puis le commencement de la Révolution, c'est la médio crité des personnes par qui de si grandes choses s'exécutent. Il est le premier partout, etc. Je vous assure cependant qu'il a l'air fort commun sous sa broderie, qu'il est raide en compagnie comme s'il avait des fils d'archal dans les jointures, et, qu'au jugement de tout le monde, il a l'air de Ninette la Cour. Ce phénomène, dela puissance balbutiant de vant la véritable dignité, m'a frappé mille et mille fois depuis l'ouverture de la grande tragédie.
