Excerpt from Syphilis
Having been Surgeon to the Lock Hospital for nearly twenty years, and largely engaged in private practice during a still longer period, I have necessarily had ample opportunities for the study of venereal disease in all its forms. The treatise which I now submit to the judgment of my professional brethren is the outcome of the expe ricuce thus gained. In it are embodied certain conclu sions, to which my personal observation has led me, as to the nature of syphilis and the way in which it may be most rapidly and efieotually treated.
