Excerpt from A Student's Library
Since knowledge cannot be marked out into precisely exact compartments, a certain amount of Overlapping has in places been almost inevitable. It has not seemed wise to restrict this within too narrow limits.
It only remains to add that, in view of the particular readers for whom this volume is designed, the books mentioned are, with very few exceptions, either English works or works of which an English translation is available and that in cases where contributors have alluded to their own publications, the reference has been made at the editor's request.
