Excerpt from Expression in Speech and Writing
These chapters, being an account of some experiments in the attempt to develop the powers of self-expression in our children of the East Oxford School, contain the substance of lectures delivered at various times during the past three years to the Oxford Branch of the English Association and to Summer Schools at Oxford, Cam bridge, and Bangor.
My thanks are due to Mr. P. E. Matheson for help in revising the proofs.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the powerful influence of self-expression on children's development. Drawing on diverse educational traditions, including those of early childhood educators and the ancient world, the author argues that oral composition â" the ability to express oneself effectively through speech â" is more important than ever in today's world. The book presents a wealth of practical exercises and models to help educators foster this skill in their students, such as debates, mock interviews, and imaginative storytelling. By encouraging children to share their own ideas and perspectives, educators can equip them with the confidence and critical thinking skills they need to navigate an increasingly complex world.
