Excerpt from An Elementary Text-Book of Dynamics and Hydrostatics
The design of this Text-book is to explain all that is usually included in a first course of Dynamics. In accordance with the now common acceptation of the term, I have called Dynamics the Science of Force. The book therefore treats of what was formerly, and occasionally still is, called Theoretical Mechanics. Great pains have been taken with the early chapters, which deal with the fundamental principles of Dynamics and with the subject of units. Throughout the book every important proposition is fol lowed by numerical examples fully worked out, and by others which are left as exercises for the student. These examples have been taken from examination papers set in the South Kensington, Civil Service, and University Examinations. Specimen Examination Papers are given at the end of the book.

Seller: Forgotten Books, London, United Kingdom
Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces readers to the world of dynamics, a fundamental branch of physics that investigates how forces affect the motion of objects. By delving into the principles of dynamics, readers gain a deeper understanding of the physical world around them. The author presents a systematic approach to dynamics, beginning with basic concepts such as velocity and acceleration and progressing to more complex topics like friction and motion in fluids. Along the way, readers are introduced to historical figures who made significant contributions to the field, providing context for the development of dynamical theories. Through a comprehensive examination of the fundamental principles and historical context of dynamics, this book offers a thorough and engaging introduction to this captivating subject. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
