The pain induced by toochach, even when confined to a fingle tooth, is often produé'tive of fevere difirefs; but this is trifling when compared With the confe quences that fometimes enfue from it. Infianc'es, indeed, often occur of the mofi robufi confiitutions being ruined by fre quent returns of it. Befides the ufual fymptorns of pain in one or more of the teeth, and of fwel'ling in the contiguous gums, the cheek frequently {wells to a large fize; the eye, and even the ear of the af'feé'ted fide, are often attacked with pain and inflammation; and to thefe, fe ver, With all its confequences, is apt to fucceed.
