Synopsis
This book assembles the papers published by Professor B.O. Peirce in the last ten years of his life. The project was initiated by Professors John Trowbridge and Wallace Sabine, and further fueled by inquiries from scientists both in the United States and abroad. The endeavor explores the lesser-known yet influential work of Peirce, including his research on magnets. His papers cover diverse topics, ranging from the temperature coefficients of magnets made of chilled cast iron to the conditions required for the sums of corresponding members of two pairs of orthogonal functions of two variables to be themselves orthogonal.
