Excerpt from Exercises in Electrical Engineering: For the Use of Second-Year Students in Universities and Technical Colleges
A considerable time having elapsed since the publication of a collection of exercises in electrical engineering, the present moment seems opportune for carrying out a plan which has often been suggested, namely, the collection and publication of a selection of the questions set in recent years in the second-year exercise classes and examinations at the Central Technical College. The questions have been revised where necessary, and classified and graded for publication. It is hoped that they may, be found useful in the second-year work of other colleges and institutions of university rank.
To get a thorough grasp of the matter dealt with in lectures, it is absolutely essential that students work out for themselves numerous exercises on the subjects under consider ation. If exercise classes are held, these should not be of the nature of examinations, but the students should be encouraged to discuss the questions with the lecturer and even with each other.
