The ms. Of this translation was delivered to the publishers on January Ist, 1918. For reasons which will be readily understood, the appearance of the printed volume has been long delayed. I had originally planned a somewhat lengthy preface in justification of the appear ance of yet another book on Counterpoint, and that a foreign one.
