Excerpt from Practical Observations on the Mechanical Structure, Mode of Formation, the Repletion or Filling Up, and the Intersection and Relative Age of Mineral Veins: With the Application of Several New Theoretical Principles to the Art of Mining
The suggestion to publish the present volume having been made. Only, a few weeks previous to the meeting of the British Association at Newcastle, the time has not admitted of a careful revision of the press by the Author. From the same cause Mr. Buddle has not had an opportunity of attentively perusing the work, and his patronage of it must there fore be considered as being given to it as the investi gations of a practical miner, without having had the means of fully, considering how. Far the principles advanced by the Author are in accordance with the phenomena from which they are deduced. In con clusion, the Author trusts he may venture to say that many of the actual phenomena of mineral veins are here presented to view - that the plans and sections of veins, drawn from actual Observation, are more de tailed and minute than have yet been given to the public. He has at all times been willing to impart to others whatever information he has obtained; and while he offers his views with a strong confidence as regards practical facts, he is fully sensible of the dif ficultyof attempting the solution of the difficult problem.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book proposes that the formation of mineral veins, particularly the mechanical structure and contents, is a result of the earth's galvanic currents and electrical forces. The author, a seasoned professional miner, describes in detail his own observations and years of research into electrical and galvanic phenomena, and how these phenomena could explain many subterranean anomalies. His experiments and theories are illustrated by plans and sections of actual mines, and address the origin of strata and mineral veins, as well as the formation of ore deposits and other geological processes. Grounded in both scientific research and the author's extensive experience, this book provides a fascinating and novel perspective on mineral vein formation.
