This was prepared in accordance with a resolution adopted by you at your November (1887) meeting. Some of the most destructive insects have been treated at some length, notably the fluted or cottony scale In the preparation of this treatise, the works of Professor Riley, Professor Com stock, and that of the late Matthew Cooke were freely made use of.
I trust that this little publication will be judged charitably, as neither time nor knowledge has been sufficient to do justice to the undertaking.
