Excerpt from The Scripture Account of the Sabbath Compared With His Grace the Archbishop of Dublin's "Thoughts on the Sabbath": In Which the Antiquity of the Sabbath Is Maintained, Its Permanent Obligation Proved, Its Meaning Explained, Its Identity With the Lord's-Day Established
I have found, - and the discovery confirmed me in my resolution to prosecute the inquiry,-that the question is to be decided by an accurate, close, and minute examination of scripture; and that human learning is no farther con cerned, than so far as it may be useful to elucidate the true meaning of divine revelation, and to interpret difficult passages of scripture, the obscurity of which sometimes arises from imperfect translation. In general, therefore, my proofs shall be such as every diligent reader of the Bible, who endeavours to read under the influence of that Holy Spirit who has promised to lead him into all truth, can understand. And therefore I earnestly intreat all those who may have the patience to read these pages, to have the sacred book of revelation open before them, and diligently to examine those passages of scripture which I shall quote.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a deep dive into the origin of the Sabbath concept, tracing its development from its inception in the Old Testament to its continuance in the New Testament. The author argues that the Sabbath is not a human invention, but a divine institution, established by God at the dawn of creation and reaffirmed throughout scripture. This Sabbath, a day of rest and worship, is not limited to the seventh day of the week, but a concept established long before the time of Moses, with roots reaching back to humanity's earliest relationship with God. The author uses extensive biblical research, drawing on original Hebrew and Greek texts to present a comprehensive analysis of scriptural references to the Sabbath, situating the concept within the broader context of God's plan for humanity. The author successfully demonstrates that the Sabbath is not a legalistic burden, but a gracious gift from God. This book is a valuable resource for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the Sabbath and its significance in the Christian faith.
