Synopsis

Excerpt from A Biochemic Basis for the Study of Problems of Taxonomy, Heredity, Evolution, Etc, Vol. 2 of 2: With Especial Reference to the Starches and Tissues of Parent-Stocks and Hybrid-Stocks and the Starches and Hemoglobins of Varieties, Species, and Genera

The degree of polarization varies from moderate to moderately high (value 5 units more than in either parent. There is little variation in a given aspect of an individual grain as in both parents.

With selenite the quadrants are as clear-cut as in B. Single crimson scarlet, and are as irregular in shape as in that starch. The colors are as pure as in both parents, and there are more grains which have a greenish tinge than in either.

In the degree of polarization, in which respect the two parents are the same, the hybrid is higher than either.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book focuses on the interrelationships between molecular configuration and biological classification, and differences in the methods employed in biological research. The author explores the starch properties and reactions recorded by the histologic methods, qualitative and quantitative, and compares them in various plant species to demonstrate the value of the physicochemical method in such comparative work. The author emphasizes that the study of protoplasm, a complex stereochemical system, is the key to understanding the mechanisms of variation, sports, fluctuations, and species genesis. Protoplasm, therefore, plays a fundamental role in heredity and evolution as a stereochemic system particularized by the characters of its stereoisomers, its components' arrangements, and its three-dimensional space. The author concludes that this research lays a solid foundation for the scientific basis of the classification of plants, animals, and protoplasm. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9781333526832_0
