Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a critique of Marx's work on capital and profits, and offers an alternative plan for industrial reconstruction. Firstly, the author argues that while Marx was right in critiquing modern capitalism, he was wrong in his conception of capital and profits. The author argues that capital is productive, and profits that are earned by capital should go to the owner. Thus, the book argues for a distinction between just and unjust profits, with just profits going to the rightful owner, and unjust profits being abolished. The author extends this to the idea that rents, interest, and dividends are all legitimate forms of income when not in excess of the actual earnings of the capital used. Countering Marx's view, the book argues that investment of capital for profit is not inherently wrong, but rather an essential factor in economic life, providing people with a way to free themselves from the slavery of toil. Finally, the author proposes a concrete plan for industrial reconstruction, involving the collective ownership of the consolidated business corporation by the people. The plan emphasizes giving capital and profits their true function, preserving individual subscription and ownership of capital, and making the public business corporation the agent of the whole people for the production of individual wealth. This plan, the author argues, will not only overthrow industrial autocracy, but also emancipate the worker, making the people collectively the business corporation and giving them control over the industrial world.
