Excerpt from Christianity and Modern Infidelity: Their Relative Intellectual Claims
The following work contains the substance of certain conversations between a person of property and posi tion professing Infidel principles and the author, on the relative intellectual merits of Christianity and modern Infidelity.
The larger number of works published in vindica tion of Christianity labour under one of two defects.
The first is, the Christianity they defend is not defined. The reader not being put in possession of the specific data of the question at issue, rises after their perusal as ignorant as ever of what Christianity is, or of what constitutes Infidelity. This vagueness and uncertainty takes away from the sectarian works on this subject, which have fallen under the author's observation, all value as defences of Christianity.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the intellectual battleground between Christianity and modern infidelity. The author, a clergyman, engages in a thought-provoking dialogue with a person professing "Indel principles," analyzing the core tenets of Christianity and the arguments against them. The book delves into the foundational principles of the Christian faith, examining the Scriptures and the three Creeds - the Apostles', the Nicene, and the Athanasian - as the standard of orthodoxy. It explores the nature of faith and how it shapes individual belief systems, addressing the issue of diversity within Christianity and challenging the common assumption that differing interpretations of the faith constitute a fatal flaw. The author skillfully dissects the arguments against the Bible, particularly those put forth by Francis William Newman, a prominent figure in the broader intellectual and religious debates of the mid-19th century. Through a detailed exploration of the biblical text, the author defends the intellectual coherence of Christian doctrine, arguing that it offers a rational and logical framework for understanding the world and human existence. The book provides a compelling case for the enduring relevance of Christianity in a world grappling with intellectual and spiritual questions.
