Excerpt from The Design and Construction of a Magnetic Absorption Dynamometer: A Thesis
This machine was designed and constructed at the Armour Institute of Technology. Views of the machine are shown by the photographs on pages (6 In appearance it resembles a fractional horse-power motor. The overall dimensions are 5% inches in diameter, and 4 inches wide. It is supported in a frame made adjustable to accommodate motors up to one-half horse-power. The Journal supports are made of cast iron, as are the frame and field structure. The rotor is made up of concentric rings of mild steel and brass. A number of copper pins are inserted radially around the periphery, connecting the brass rings electrically.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents plans for building an Electro-magnetic Absorption Dynamometer. The dynamometer is a self-contained unit designed to facilitate the testing of fractional horsepower motors. The author discusses the challenges he encountered while designing this unique machine, including determining the proper ampere turns in the field and the amount of magnetic material required to achieve the rated capacity. The author also provides a detailed explanation of the machine's construction, including assembly and coil computations. The significance of this book lies in its detailed approach to the design, construction, and theory of the dynamometer, making it an invaluable resource for engineers and technicians working with small motors. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9781333405809_0
