Excerpt from The Entomological Writings of Dr. Alpheus Spring Packard
In 1871 he served as State entomologist of Massachusetts, and from 187 7 was a member of the United States Entomological Com mission. In 1878 he accepted the professorship of Zoology and Geology in Brown University, and still retains the position.
